Bob led a high level career in banking, latterly as EMEA Chairman of Merrill Lynch and board member of the Bank of England. He has Chaired UK Finance for the last 7 years, sits on the UK's Board of Trade, Economic Crime Strategy Board and Economic Security Public Private Forum. He has advised a number of other governments and is an investor and advisor to cutting edge technology companies in blockchain, cybersecurity, synthetic data, digital assets, space-tech and the metaverse. He created the UK's Green Investment Bank, the world's first government owned and sponsored renewables bank. He wrote a book about the effects of technology on GenZ, Born Digital: The Story of a Distracted Generation. He is a Visiting Professor at King's College London's Digital Futures Institute and is undertaking ground breaking research to prove the physical harm caused by doom scrolling at Guy's Hospital. He is a Visiting Fellow of both Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
